Pillows

It was boys only in yoga today. We started with a trip across the desert on our camels (sitting cross-legged, holding our ankles as we inhaled to sit up tall, then exhaled and folded over like we were riding a camel). This got the students breathing, exchanging their stale air for fresh while having fun. After crossing the desert we saw a cobra snake (we got into cobra pose and hissed) then we rode our bicycles away (lying on backs circling legs), washed our clothes with our own washing machines (hands on our shoulders and swishing from side to side for a nice twist) then I asked them what came after washing. One boy said we put the laundry in a basket. This wasn't in my script but I went a long with it and asked him to show me what the basket looked like. We paired up and I had to problem solve creating a basket with two people that would hold something. Then I walked around to each pair and threw my yoga bag in their "basket" to see if it would work. Success! I continued on with the visualization/ adventure. Car races were next, followed by a group pose. I had them lie down with their heads on each others stomach to use as a pillow. They were a pillow, lying on a pillow at the same time. Then I had the "pillows" breathe in and out to raise the heads of the person lying on them.
Soon they were laughing, pretending to be asleep and having a good time.
We then partnered up while one person went into child's pose (became a rock) and another laid on their back to sun themselves. Both students said this felt great, the one getting the good stretch on the ground and the one stretched out on top. We ended with Svasana and a guided meditation about being on a ship.
